Relics comes from the collection People Live Here: Stories from Yakima. It tells of Daniel, a thirty-something record store owner closing the business founded by his once-famous rock star father. While clearing the shelves, Daniel and his co-worker Larry discover some relics that my fundamentally change everything Daniel knew about his father. This story is part of the JoeCast, a podcast featuring essays, stories, and other writings written by Joseph J.P. Johnson. Next episode, perhaps another chapter or two from the children’s book A Year in the Life Sandersen.
I’ve added this story because of the recent critique of it by Chuck Palahniuk.
